Miggo launches Pictar Pro advanced iPhone camera grip

Miggo has announced Pictar Pro, an enhanced and upgraded version of its Pictar iPhone camera grip that we reviewed last year. The new Pictar Pro, which has been launched as a project on Kickstarter, builds on the features of the original Pictar by offering even deeper control over the iPhone’s camera capabilities, along with four improved external camera control buttons, a “shark-skin” ergonomic grip, a unique viewfinder for shooting on bright days, and advanced video capabilities. The new Pro version also improved on the aesthetics, providing a classic solid satin-finish brass body for a more substantial feel that will remind users of a Leica camera experience.

Pictar Pro also sports an internal battery with Qi wireless charging to provide extra capacity so you’ll never miss a shot.

As with the original model, Miggo’s companion Pictar app is at the heart of the system, which provides pro-level features and advanced control over the iPhone camera, and interfaces with the hardware accessory over inaudible high-frequency audio signalling, rather than a Bluetooth or Lightning connection. Advanced controls include an exposure compensation wheel that provides granular control over the exposure and brightness/darkness of the image, a multi-state shutter release button that allows focus and exposure to be locked in with ah half-press, before pushing all the way down to capture an image, a rocker zoom switch for smooth zoom motion, even while shooing video, as well as quickly switching between front and back cameras, and a smart wheel that provides quick switching between nine typical shooting modes such as full auto, shutter priority, manual, video, and more.

A built-in viewfinder allows you to see your iPhone’s screen even on a very bright day, a tripod attachment lets you mount your iPhone for longer-exposure photos and group shots, and a cold shoe connector allows for the attachment of a microphone or lighting accessory.

Pictar Pro is designed to fit all modern iPhone sizes, from the iPhone 6 to the iPhone XS Max, along with a wide range of Android devices. The package will also include the hand strap and neck strap made from para cord and leather, as well as a fabric pouch for keeping the Pictar Pro stored when not in use.
