The Unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12 to iOS 12.1.2 got a lot of attention recently. The jailbreak was available for all devices A8 through A11, excluding iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and the latest iPad Pro 2018. The @pwn20wnd team added support to Unc0ver for 4 K devices such as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s a few days ago. Now, partial support for Unc0ver 3.0 has been added for A12 to A12X Bionic devices after noteworthy hard work by the team. Let’s dive in to see a few more details on the subject.

As mentioned earlier, the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and the latest iPad Pro have been added to partial support for the Unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12. Partial support for Unc0ver jailbreak suggests you can use the tool to jailbreak your A12–12X Bionic devices, but apart from that, there’s not much you can do.

There is no assistance provided for Cydia at this point in time, which indicates you won’t be able to install jailbreak tweaks. There are, however, plenty of advantages that you should also consider. For example, jailbreaking the device will allow updates to be blocked and you can remove the root filesystem as RW. Moreover, Saurik’s official statement is not yet available on when Cydia might finally be available on the platform.

For more details, check the complete changelog below:

  • Enable partial (Export/Un-Export Kernel Task Port, Set HSP4 as TFP0, Dump APTicket, Overwrite Boot Nonce, Log Slide, Log ECID, Disable Auto Updates, Remount RootFS, Disable App Revokes, Restore RootFS) iOS 12.0 – 12.1.2 support for A12-A12X devices
  • Update the APT lists cache file for repositories
  • Fix the voucher_swap exploit for the beta firmware on A12-A12X
  • Update the APT lists cache file for repositories.

Some iPhone XS users on iOS 12.1.1 beta 3 have reported rebooting their devices during the jailbreak process. Place the device in airplane mode before initiating the process if you have experienced such a problem. Also, be certain you don’t store any OTA file on your device. If so, the device will enter the respring loop.

In coming days, we will be updating this story, so be sure to stay tuned in for more details on the subject. Did you use your iPhone XS tool for Unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12? let us know.
