macOS Catalina to release on October 4

With iOS 13 being released into the wild, its now macOS Catalina’s turn to go public. Apple has yet to officially announce the release date of the OS for the general public. The public beta has been running since the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) which took place in the month of June. However, if Apple’s Danish web page for macOS Catalina is any indication, the OS is to be released on 4th of October.

One of the biggest releases of Apple for iOS, macOS, and tvOS this year is Apple Arcade. Its a gaming subscription service which will work on all three Apple platforms and it costs just $4.99 per month. With iOS 13 already being released, people are loving the gaming service. It’s now for macOS users turn to enjoy the service as well; the Danish Apple web page of macOS Catalina reads “Exceptional gameplay. Find it in the App Store from October 4”.

macOS Catalina to release on October 4

Apple Arcade on the Mac platform requires macOS Catalina and won’t work on previous versions of the macOS (or OS X). If the previous Mac software releases are to be considered, they were always released on a Monday or Tuesday. October 4th falls on a Friday, it’s unclear whether the day really matters but that’s something to look into. Also interestingly, the last time a major Mac software release to take place on a Friday was with Mac OS X Snow Leopard (ten years ago).

macOS Catalina is a huge update to the Mac platform. It brings many iPad applications to the Mac. Also, developers get to port their iPad apps to the Mac with ease now. Apple reports that there are 100,000,000 active Mac users at the moment and porting iPad apps to the platform would be a huge win.
