While many iOS users assume that iTunes will be carried over to the next macOS, it looks like Apple may finally be pulling the plug on the multimedia platform.
In iTunes’ place will be standalone Podcasts, Apple TV and Apple Music apps. According to Bloomberg, the announcement is expected to unravel at the 2019 WWDC scheduled next week. Music will be the spiritual successor of the 18-year old program, with features that allow for managing and syncing Apple devices.
Introduced by the late Steve Jobs in 2001, iTunes has had mixed reactions, with most users complaining about the amount of bloatware within. The announcement, therefore, should be welcome news to those who want to use their respective apps for what they need. Leaked shots of the new Apple TV and Apple Music app on the macOS 10.15 are already circulating around the internet, but we’ll have to wait and see for the official announcement in the opening keynote come Monday, 10 am Pacific Time.
