Apple Show time 25th March Event

Apple invited media on Monday to an event on March 25 at the Steve Jobs Theater on its campus in Cupertino, California, where a television and video service is expected to launch.

Sources assured Reuters that Apple is set to launch a streaming television service that is expected to include TV service subscription. Apple usually launches products and services in the month period after the event.

Apple did not specify the event’s focus in its invitation and gave a single – line description: “It’s time to show.”

The company previously used “It’s show time” tag for an event in September 2006 where it introduced movies on iTunes, along with the first iTV revelation (which would be swapped with Apple TV in 2007). For the upcoming event, it is certainly a fitting teaser.

Apple has been suggesting a planned video service for a long time, spending $2 billion in Hollywood to create its own content and signing major stars such as Oprah Winfrey. Sources familiar with the matter earlier told Reuters that the service could resell, among others, the Starz subscriptions of CBS Corp, Viacom Inc and Lions Gate Entertainment Corp, as well as the original content of Apple.

The TV service is expected to launch globally, an ambitious move to rival services from Netflix and Amazon.com’s Prime Video. Apple’s App Store, where the service is likely to be distributed, is currently available in more than 100 countries.

It is anticipated that the TV service will launch globally, a purposeful move to opposing Netflix services and Prime Video from Amazon.com. Apple’s App Store is currently available in more than 100 countries, where the service is expected to be delivered.
