Wide-angle selfie camera on the iPhone

Wide-angle selfie camera on the iPhone

The iPhone is the smartphone with the best camera on the market right now. Previously, for two straight years, the Pixel took the crown for the best smartphone camera. However, Apple found its way and has improved the cameras on their new iPhone 11 series that they are even better than the Google Pixel 3 in some cases.

Well, on the back of the iPhone 11 Pro we can find three cameras and on the back of the iPhone 11 we can find two cameras. The number of cameras on smartphones is increasing as its difficult to increase the size of the camera due to the limitations of the phone thickness.

However, there has not been much of a huge leapfrog in terms of advancement in the front cameras. Of course, the front camera on the iPhone 11 is fantastic providing excellent amount of details and almost accurate colours. But it would be nice to see a new dedicated wide-angle camera on the front of the iPhone as well.

Wide-angle is cool

The depth sensor and the telephoto are not exactly the most exciting cameras. It has been found that most people prefer a wide-angle lens over the depth sensor and the telephoto shooter. It makes sense as the wide-angle enables the phone to take some really cool looking photos.

With the growing use of camera apps like Snapchat and Instagram, the use of a dedicated wide-angle lens for selfies could actually be a big hit. Of course, this year, Apple tried to woo its users with its new slo-fie feature but its not exactly groundbreaking and majority of the people find the name to be weird.

It would be nice if Apple could pack two cameras on the front along with the usual two cameras on the back on the iPhone 12. In case of the “Pro” iPhone, then there would be five cameras in total – two on the front and three on the back.
