iPhone SE2 could support wireless charging

Wireless charging with the PaMu Slide

Apple released the iPhone SE in 2016, re-starting the trend of small phones. However, it’s also important to note that its low price was one of the reasons for the phone’s success. The iPhone SE received major price cuts during its lifetime and the phone was a major success in India.

With the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 11 Pro taking the above $500 market, there’s a need for a sub $400 iPhone with latest chips. Apple currently sells its old iPhone for less than $500 but they will definitely not last as long as the current generation as they sport older generation chips.

Apple is expected to release the second generation of the iPhone SE next year. The rumours point to the phone using the iPhone 8’s body coupled with the internals of the latest generation iPhones i.e A13 Bionic chip.

Improved cameras

The cameras on the iPhone SE2 could also be the same as the iPhone 11. If we look at the original iPhone SE, it sported the same rear camera as the one found on the iPhone 6S, flagship of the time. However, the front camera of the iPhone SE was not the same as the one found on the iPhone 6S.

Apple could also add wireless charging to the iPhone SE2 as more and more devices appear to be supporting the nifty but useful feature. Wireless charging is still not as fast as wired charging but with the industry making serious improvements, it’s getting closer and the feature is still useful for charging while sitting at a table.

The iPhone could very well be sold at $399, the same price as the original iPhone SE was sold at. However, we expect the base variant to pack a minimum of 64GB of internal storage.

The iPhone SE2 is speculated to launch in March 2020.
