When Apple released the iPhone SE in 2016, it was the first time the company released a phone with flagship specs for nearly half the price. The device was appreciated by compact phone enthusiasts as it allows for an easy one-hand operation and still continues to be loved. For long we have about the follow-up device the company has been planning and it appears that our wishes are about to come true.

Ming-Chi Kuo, a noted Apple analyst for KGI Securities in a fresh report revealed that a new iPhone SE is on the cards. He adds that the device will be released in March 2020 – exactly four years later. However, no comment has been made on the pricing of the second-generation iPhone SE.

If Apple plans to stick close to the pricing of the first-generation iPhone, then it will be an instant hit. In 2016, the iPhone SE was released for $399 and if the company could emulate that with the iPhone SE 2 as well, it will compete head-on with mid-range Android phones.

Kuo does add that the iPhone SE 2 will be powered by the latest Apple A13 Bionic chip found on the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 11 Pro. It could also use the same amount of RAM as the iPhone 11 (4GB) which keeps the phone buttery smooth. However, there is information regarding the number of cameras it will sport on the back; we expect only the main camera of the iPhone 11 to be placed on the iPhone SE 2.

The original iPhone SE was a throwback to the iPhone 5 which allowed Apple to sell the device for a much lower price than its flagship while packing the same internals. The iPhone SE 2 according to Kuo, will use the body of the iPhone 8 to keep the costs low.

We can only hope but it would be nice if Apple could pack a fast charger in the box.
