During the September event, Apple introduced the term ‘slofie’, which meant slow motion video selfies. The company is hoping that it will become the ‘next big thing’ and has made move to trademark it.
The Cupertino-based company filed for trademark rights Friday, with the focus being on it being a camera app phrase than an actual word- the trademark is attached to ‘downloadable computer software’ that could capture and record videos. If approved, it could limit future slofie camera app usage.
Technically speaking, slofies are slo-mo videos captured using the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11’s front-facing camera. Video recording at 120 fps is one of the new things that’s on the iPhone 11.
The word isn’t found in the iOS environment; rather, Apple may be banking on making it a marketing term. The slow motion recording on the Camera app is simply known as ‘slo-mo’
The filing move cost Apple $400, but the results are yet to be seen.
