Apple has opened the Rennweg store, which will be replacing the one it has on Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich, Switzerland.
Characterized by a trim facade and a modest Apple logo cutout above the entrance, the Apple store sports an asymmetric storefront that’s part stucco and part brick, with arched openings and large windows.
The original store in Bahnhofstrasse was opened in 2009 and was the company’s first foray into sales space underground and at street level. Then, the property owners wanted to redevelop but it encountered many problems and stops. Relocating to Rennweg might have been Apple’s response to avoid being involved.
Inside the spacious store is an Avenue display, last-gen tables and a paneled texture ceiling with small ridges. It doesn’t yet include a video wall, which is a requirement for Today at Apple programs.
Two other Apple Stores in Switzerland are awaiting a redesign and possible upgrades. In May, a video wall was added in Apple Glattzentrum but the ones in Freie Strasse and Rue de Rive are still awaiting further decisions.
