MacBook Air 2019 to release soon, reports suggest

Few days before the WWDC, Apple quietly updated the MacBook Pro lineup with newer and faster CPUs. The talk of the town was that the company had finally begun to incorporate eight-core chips in their notebooks. It now appears that more new Mac laptops are on their way to be released sometime soon.

Apple has reportedly filed seven new Mac models in the Eurasian Economic Commission Database, according to MacRumours. The description of the filing reads “portable”, so it’s safe to assume that it’s the MacBook line. It could only be assumed that the MacBook Air or the MacBook models are to be updated internally.

The current generation MacBook Air was released by Apple at its October event alongside the redesigned iPad Pro. The Air uses the 8th generation Intel Y-series processor; it would be an exemplary move on Apple’s part if it could use the “U-series” chips instead as they are much more powerful. The Y-series are low-powered chips which cannot be used for processor intensive tasks which makes the machines run cooler and also provides good battery backup.

The 12-inch MacBook could also be the one that could be updated as it was last updated in June 2017. After the release of the 2018 MacBook Air, the life of the “MacBook” has been hanging on a thread as Apple could altogether kill the lineup as it continues to push the new iPad Pros with 11inch and 12.9inch screen sizes and it could reserve the 13inch and 15inch for the Mac users.

Prior to the 2019 MacBook Pro updates, it was assumed that Apple would refresh the design of the laptop as it has been under fire for several issues. The design of the MacBook Pro is terrible for Pros as it has less space for air-flow and lacks a proper keyboard with proper travel. It appears as if though that Apple is saving the refreshed MacBook Pro for 2020. However the company could still go on to release it in October but very unlikely.
