Apple has announced the start of Independent Repair Provider Program, a platform where independent repair shops will be given original Apple tools, diagnostics, repair manuals, and training to become Apple Authorized Service Providers.
Apple’s newest program will allow independent repair stores out-of-warranty services on iPhones, including battery and screen replacements. Other aspects such as in-warranty offers and devices are unavailable at this time.
Businesses who are interested in becoming authorized service providers can check Apple’s website for more details. Some of the requirements they will need include verification documents, being located in a commercial area, have an Apple-certified technician for performing iPhone repairs using genuine Apple parts. Apple says that applications are free but they’re not guaranteed 100% approval.
Last year, the Cupertino-based company has launched pilot programs with independent repair shops in Asia, Europe and North America. Over time, Apple hopes to expand it to other countries.
