A trio of friends have tried to recapture all the default wallpapers in macOS. Andrew Levitt, a photographer and YouTube personality was joined by Taylor Gray and Jacob Phillips in a week-long road trip. Then, macOS Catalina was released and the group knew they had to recreate the wallpaper by going to Santa Catalina Island and take a photo of its northern tip.
The trio went to the destination via ferry and had to hike 8 hours to capture the shot. Fortunately, they were prepared and had supplies and essential camping gear. Eventually, the small group reached the vantage point and took the shot using a drone.
On the way back, Levitt and friends were stopped by authorities due to the fact that hiking on the island at night was prohibited. They were escorted to the other side and went home safe.
