Apple has canceled ‘The Banker’ showing up as a premiere at the LA AFI Fest on November 21, mainly due to hearing historical inaccuracies and allegations of sexual abuse.
A theater release was intended for December 6, with the movie showing on Apple TV+ right after the new year, but The Variety has mentioned that this might be canceled as well.
Close sources say that Apple will be taking a closer look into the allegations before proceeding with the theatrical release and Apple TV+ showing. A lawyer working for Romulus Entertainment suggest that Apple can get it fixed by omitting the claim that ‘The Banker’ was based on real events.
Aside from the rumors, there’s no official announcement by the Cupertino-based company. Hopefully the problem gets fixed before the 2020 arrives.
The Banker is just one of the original Apple TV+ movies debuting in the subscription platform. The service costs $4.99 per month and offers a free 7-day trial period.
