Apple October Special Event: What we know so far!

The Mac laptop community is extremely frustrated by the lack of fix for the butterfly keyboard on the MacBooks. The butterfly keyboard mechanism according to majority of the 2016 and later MacBook users fails after a short while with some keys not working or a single press triggering multiple key presses.

Apple has publicly acknowledged the issue multiple times and has offered free repair of the keyboards for a period of four years after the purchase. However, the process can be fidgety at times and it will be frustrating for the keyboard to fail when working. Also, the repair process will require users to leave their laptops at the service center for days or weeks.

It was initially reported by multiple analysts that Apple will unveil a refreshed keyboard design alongside a 16 inch MacBook Pro at its October 2019 event. However, now we are hearing that Apple will not hold any such event. The news should however be taken with a grain of salt, we could still see Apple hold its “iPad & Mac” event.

Kuo, the noted Apple analyst for KGI Securities, initially suggested an October release of the 16 inch MacBook Pro. However, according to Kuo, the company appears to be planning to unveil the new MacBook Pro in the first half of 2020. Apple has for long maintained the tradition of refreshing its laptop designs every four years. The company had last refreshed the MacBook Pro design in 2016 and its likely planning to stick to the four year period.

Improved design for proper air-flow

The top end configurations of the current generation MacBook Pros also suffer from thermal throttling issues as the laptops are razor sharp thin leaving less space for proper air flow. It would be nice to see Apple find a reasonable workaround this issue with its upcoming laptops.

We will update you if we receive any information as to whether Apple will hold an event in October.
