Apex Legends

Ever wanted to play Apex Legends, Call of Duty, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Spider-Man on your iOS device? Well, thanks to Sony’s new PS4 Remote Play app, you can stream almost any PS4 game straight to your iPhone.

Sony has made sure to make it simple and intuitive to use the application. The only thing users need to do is to upgrade their PlayStation 4 to the PS4 6.50 update and download the PS4 Remote Play app from the App Store to their iOS device.

Once done, all they have to do is boot up the PS4 Remote Play app on their iPhone, select the game they want to play and enjoy.

However, there are some conditions that users need to first meet. Sony has stated that only iOS devices with iOS 12.1 or later installed will be able to use the application. Additionally, users should also have an account with PlayStation Network and must have the latest system software version downloaded to their PlayStation 4 device.

Sony also mentions that some games may not be compatible with the PS4 Remote Play app and it is still unclear which ones they might be talking about. However, with time, these incompatible games will come to light.

Sony states that the app only works via a WiFi network and not a mobile network. Additionally, for those wanting to use their DUALSHOCK 4 controllers to play on their iPhones, you’re in for a disappointment; Sony has stated that the DUALSHOCK 4 is not compatible with the application. Users will have to use the touch-screen interface instead, to play the PS4 games.

The PS4 Remote Play app is an ingenious way of giving avid mobile gamers a way to play PS4 exclusive games. Gamers around the world, including myself, are excited as to what this could mean for the future of mobile gaming. For Android users though, it is unclear yet whether Sony intends to release an Android version of their PS4 Remote Play application. We can only wait and hope in anticipation that they do.
