Though we’ve seen more interesting designs from the company in the past, XtremeMac’s latest iPhone 4 cases aren’t bad — they’re just me-too, and represent so many variations on the same general theme that they’re hard to get excited about. There’s the competent enough single-piece translucent clear Microshield for iPhone 4 ($20), and the more interesting Microshield Accent ($25), which has a soft Bumper-like border to cover the edge of the iPhone 4 plus hard plastic on the back.
There’s also the Tuffwrap Accent ($25), which is highly similar to Microshield Accent, and Borders ($25), a set of two colored silicone edge covers for the iPhone 4 like Apple’s Bumpers. Each comes with screen film and a cleaning cloth, while Borders adds twin screen films and twin rear films for protection.
We don’t often say this, but we really wish XtremeMac would simplify its case lineup to just focus on the really good stuff; most of these cases just feel like a waste of the company’s considerable design talent.
