Like Griffin’s AirStrap and Hub International’s HandStand before it, Sleeve360 ($60) from Think Fast, LLC is designed to serve as not only a protector for the iPad 2, but also a convenient way to hold it. Built into the back is a hand strap, which is especially useful for those who may be using their tablet while walking or being generally mobile. The plastic case’s style is certainly a bit different than those we have seen in the past though: not only does it have a unique look, it doubles as a stand, and is more comfortable too.
Unlike most cases, Sleeve360 provides significant coverage for both the front and back of the iPad 2. It combines a shell with a hinged front cover for the bezel. There are openings for the camera and ambient light sensor, and a removable rubber Home button cover.
Otherwise, the bezel is totally protected. Along the back and edges there are holes for access to all of the other ports and buttons. Those surrounding the headphone port and Dock Connector port are both large enough to accommodate slightly larger-than-normal plugs. Unlike most cases, there are separate openings for the volume rocker and side switch. It’s a nice touch.
The most notable feature of the case is the combination hand strap and stand.
Made of nylon and plastic, it snaps in and out of a circular opening on the back of the case and rotates all the way around. We really appreciate that the band is resizable; we had a serious issue with how tight AirStrap was. It’s also nice that the strap assembly is removable, but the resulting opening over the Apple logo is a downside. A pair of plastic buttons act as a release, activating the stand functionality. The stand is sturdy, and both the landscape and portrait angles are good. Also built in to the back is a much shorter fold-out stand for typing.
