SwitchEasy’s Canvas ($50) and Rave ($50) are similar folio-style cases for iPad Air 2. We’ve seen both of these cases before — Canvas for a number of iPads, including iPad Air, and Rave for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Both cases are polycarbonate shells with a soft cover that can double as a stand — Rave’s stand folds into a number of positions.
Neither case has button coverage (such coverage seems to becoming rarer these days when it comes to iPad cases). Both cases come with full screen film, and both have cover magnets to activate the iPad’s sleep/wake function.
Canvas remains virtually unchanged from iPad Air — though this particular case only fits the iPad Air 2, it looks almost exactly the same and works in the same way. It’s still a very good case, but we still miss the button coverage, and it could stand to be a little bit thinner for Apple’s thinnest iPad.
Rave proves to be more useful than its iPhone cousin, though we’re still not in love with the folding stand cover.
It can be a bit awkward, especially when you want to set your iPad up quickly. We do, however, appreciate its thinness — it’s rare to see an iPad Air 2 folio case keep a relatively thin profile, so we commend SwitchEasy for that.
We like both Canvas and Rave for iPad Air 2, but for different reasons. We enjoy the bold color options for both cases, as well, as they go beyond the basic black.
