Review: Speck CandyShell Clear and CandyShell Inked Jonathan Adler for iPhone 6/6s

While many case companies have started retroactively adding “iPhone 6s” to their existing cases, Speck has recently introduced two new cases designed for iPhone 6/6s. (We tried the cases on the 6s, as we will continue to do going forward.) CandyShell Clear ($35) is Speck’s first completely clear case, offering CandyShell protection while showing off the iPhone 6s. CandyShell Inked Jonathan Adler ($50) is a special series in conjunction with renowned designer Jonathan Adler.

The line comes in seven different designs. Coverage for the sleep/wake button and volume controls are included on both cases.

CandyShell Clear is the missing piece in Speck’s long-heralded CandyShell lineup. The case offers the typical dual-layer protection of a CandyShell case — Speck notes the inclusion of a “next-generation rubber” that it claims won’t yellow over time — while giving users and those around them a good look at the iPhone 6s.

The case is a little looser near the volume controls than most CandyShell cases; we’re not sure how that area of the case will hold up in the long run.

Though Speck’s Inked line has been available in various incarnations over the years, the new Jonathan Adler series is one of the nicer-looking versions we’ve seen. The case we received was inspired by a set of coasters from Adler’s Malachite collection (included below is a photo next to one of those coasters). On this particular design, the Speck branding on the back is hardly evident, though that differs with other cases in the collection.

Both of these are fine cases for any iPhone 6s user.
