First Look: Speck CandyShell Card + SeeThru Satin for iPhone 4

First Look: Speck CandyShell Card + SeeThru Satin for iPhone 4

There are so many iPhone cases available at this point that we see each new release as falling into one of a handful of categories: “no one would want this,” “a niche of people would want this,” “a lot of people would want this,” and “even people who already have satisfactory cases would want this.” Speck’s new CandyShell Card ($40) fits into the niche category, and SeeThru Satin ($30) is so cool that all of iLounge’s editors went crazy when we first saw them. Sold in four colors, CandyShell Card is another iteration on Speck’s hybrid rubber and hard plastic CandyShell case, this time using a rear pocket to hold up to three hard plastic or business cards together, reducing some users’ need for a wallet.

A thumbhole on one side lets you push the cards out when you need them, and the rest of the case is built with the standard button protection and holes that users would expect. By comparison, SeeThru Satin at first appears to be a modest update to Speck’s earlier SeeThru for iPhone 4, but as with prior Satin versions, the colors, soft touch finish, and smooth feel all take it up a notch.

A perfect combination of rubber and hard plastic provide button and body protection while making iPhone insertion and removal easy. In addition to black, purple, and blue versions, Speck now offers a “sea foam blue” version that matches last year’s special edition Tiffany Blue color we all lusted after, plus at least one special edition color (green) that debuted at the 2011 CES.
