Seidio’s Dilex Pro with Metal Kickstand for iPhone 6 ($35) is a case that recalls the company’s previous Active case for iPhone 5. Dilex Pro pairs an inner TPU shell with an outer matte plastic shell for protection. Despite the multiple layers, the case manages to keep a thin profile — even considering that it includes a built-in metal kickstand. The kickstand connects to the case with a small hinge and snaps back using a magnet.
Utilizing such a thin kickstand comes with a small price, as you’ll have to use your fingernail to lift the kickstand from its case. Dilex Pro also includes proper button coverage for the sleep/wake button and volume controls. A holster can be added separately for $30, or the case can be purchased in a holster combo for $55.
While we’ve already seen quite a few cases for iPhone 6 similar to Dilex Pro, this case stands out in a few ways — some good, some bad. The fit isn’t as tight as we’ve seen on similar TPU or rubber/plastic cases, as it seems a bit too easy to pull the sides away from the phone.
It’s nice that Seidio has included a kickstand for landscape viewing, and does so without adding bulk. But it’s a bit annoying to have to dig in with a fingernail to open it. Not only that, but we found the bottom side of the iPhone didn’t sit flush on a flat surface when the kickstand is in use — it’s elevated ever-so-slightly. As a result, when the phone’s ringer vibrates, the case can move around rather than staying in place.
The holster does come with one configuration of the case, but we consider it to be an expensive add-on that we wouldn’t use ourselves.
