Preview: Scosche TapLine and TapStick for iPod shuffle 3G

As two separate alternatives for adding control functionality to the third-generation iPod shuffle, Scosche has released TapLine ($20) and TapStick ($30). TapLine is a thin, cabled three-button remote control emulating the buttons on Apple’s own iPod shuffle Earphones with Remote, capable of turning any pair of earphones into shuffle 3G-ready accessories.

It does not include an integrated microphone, differing in this regard from the TapLine remotes found in Scosche’s earphones, and is thereby not as useful as those earphones with 2008-2009 microphone-ready iPods or iPhones. TapStick by comparison is a half-case solution with buttons built in to one side, and an included color-matched audio cable for connection to a car or home stereo; it also omits the microphone functionality, and is designed solely to work with the third-generation iPod shuffle.

It is available in black or white colors, each with gray rubberized face buttons.
