First Look: Root Cases iPhone 4 Case

First Look: Root Cases iPhone 4 Case

Wood cases appear now and again for iPods, iPhones, and even iPads, so the fact that Root Cases is now offering the iPhone 4 Case ($59) is not surprising in and of itself; rather, the little details are what set this particular design apart. Integrated button protectors aren’t easy to pull off on even plastic cases, so we were impressed by Root’s ability to include them for both the side volume controls and the top Sleep/Wake Button; the case’s precision-machined edges succeed at mirroring the iPhone 4’s metal antenna core, as well.

A tight camera and flash hole in the back uses tiny ridges to disperse light; similarly very small holes provide only the barest of access to the headphone port, Dock Connector port, microphones, and bottom speakers. Our sample arrived in solid walnut with a velvet inner lining; zebrawood, bamboo, and wenge versions are also available.

Update: After Root Cases violated our astroturfing policy by posting comments on a news article pretending to be a customer interested in this product, we have opted not to cover the company’s releases, which strongly appear to be knockoffs of cases by Miniot. We strongly urge readers not to do business with companies that engage in dishonest marketing practices, which iLounge has warned against for years.
