Otterbox’s Resurgence Power Case ($100) returns for iPhone 6, with the battery case seeing a few design changes from the iPhone 5/5s version of the case. The micro-USB input is now found on the bottom right side of the case; the Lightning port is not accessible while the two-piece case is on.
Resurgence for iPhone 6 also shifts the power button — which uses four LED lights to show remaining battery life in the included 2600 mAh battery — is located on the back of the case now. In addition to button coverage, the ringer switch is also protected.
In our testing, Resurgence’s 2600 mAh battery topped out at 97 percent when charging a fully depleted iPhone 6, in a bit less than two hours.
So it didn’t quite live up to the claim of delivering “2x battery life,” but it’s close. Other tests may yield slightly different results, and users who recharge their phones before the battery dies completely should see a full charge.
Though Resurgence barely missed its mark in our testing, it’s right in the ballpark of what should be expected.
