Review: Incipio Frequency for iPod nano 7G

Review: Incipio Frequency for iPod nano 7G

Incipio’s Frequency ($16) is one of the very few seventh-generation iPod nano cases on the market, modeled after the case of the same name the company offers for the iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5G. While the super simple, super light nano may not need as much protection from drops and falls as its larger siblings, Frequency adds extra functionality that increases the value of the case. It comes in teal, purple, translucent grey, black, and pink, and ships with a screen protector as well as the tools to apply it.

The case is made out of the company’s semi-flexible NGP rubber.

With some effort, it wraps around the body, leaving the bezel and screen fully exposed but all the aluminum protected. The Home Button is covered while the Lightning and headphone ports are open at the bottom. We appreciate that Incipio chose to cover the volume buttons as well, but would’ve preferred if it had left a greater indentation for the play/pause button; the way the material fits over them, you wouldn’t know it’s there.

Frequency’s most interesting component is the triangular loop at the top. It can be used to connect to carabiners, hooks, or keychains, making the iPod nano even more portable. Incipio was able to add this feature without a lot of bulk, and it fits well with the overall aesthetic of the case.
