Review: Incipio DualPro Shine for iPhone 5c

Review: Incipio DualPro Shine for iPhone 5c

Among its latest cases, Incipio has released its DualPro Shine for iPhone 5c ($35). Based heavily on the iPhone 5/5s version, the case is composed of a rubber skin, and a metallic-finished plastic shell that fits atop it. It comes in four color combinations, including the options shown here, as well as a white model with pink accents.

Compared to the prior version of the case, this one’s layers are much more difficult to separate.

We found it easier to simply pop the case in with the plastic and rubber already together, rather than to split them apart first. But once it’s assembled, the case feels a bit more cohesive; instead of two pieces, it really feels like one.

While the aluminum-looking material provides texture and a cool design, rubber protects the body and buttons. The case is designed in such a way that it doesn’t affect how well the buttons click, which we’re always thankful for.

Gone is the rubber rising up from the bottom and surrounding half the Home Button. Instead, the rubber simply stops below the button, and leaves three relatively large openings along the bottom edge.

DualPro Shine’s design is quite nice—protective yet refined—so although it comes in at a price that’s on the high end for iPhone 5c cases, it’s not objectionable. Therefore, DualPro Shine easily earns our strong general recommendation.
