Incipio has updated a number of its case lines for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. DualPro Shine ($35) for iPhone 6 is a dual-layer rubber and plastic case with an aluminum-style finish on the back of the plastic shell. Edge ($30), also for iPhone 6, is a hard plastic shell slider case with a matte finish. NGP ($20) is a soft shell, flexible plastic case for iPhone 6 Plus.
DualPro Shine uses a rubber layer to surround the iPhone 6, which is then placed inside a hard plastic shell.
The volume controls and sleep/wake button are protected, and proper port openings line the bottom of the case. If you wanted to just keep the phone in the inner rubber layer, you probably could — but placing it inside the outer shell as intended will give a better fit with solid protection. The “aluminum finish” isn’t really aluminum, but it looks pretty sharp nonetheless.
Though it’s a slider, Edge still retains the same standard port openings at the bottom of the case as seen in the DualPro Shine. It offers similar button coverage as well, and comes in a nice matte finish.
Unfortunately, although it’s a thin plastic shell slider, it’s a chore actually getting the iPhone 6 in and out of the Edge.
Incipio’s tried-and-true NGP case returns in a number of translucent colors for iPhone 6 Plus. The flexible polymer case is thin and fits snug on the largest iPhone, with proper coverage for volume controls and the sleep/wake button. It’s not flashy, but NGP is always a good option for the price, and this version is no different.
Both Incipio’s DualPro Shine and NGP earn our strong general recommendation — the former is an attractive two-piece case that should provide adequate coverage. NGP is a simple winner yet again, and a great value choice to defend your iPhone 6 Plus.
