Based on the company’s earlier, impressive Wave Cases for iPhones and iPods, Griffin’s new Wave Case for iPod touch 2G comes in two versions: a single case ($25) and a two-case set ($35), each in your choice of colors such as white, pink, black, and green. Each of the matte-finished, soft touch rubber-coated plastic cases comes with a screen protector and cleaning cloth, as well as a two-piece design that uses helix-like moldings to hold the shell together.
Like the iPod nano and iPod classic versions of Wave, but unlike the iPhone and iPhone 3G versions, Wave for iPod touch has its helix design on the back rather than on the sides — a decision that makes the case’s bottom slide off rather than having the case split into front and back halves.
Since posting our initial First Look at Wave, we’ve been more or less in love with the case thanks to its combination of great looks and straightforward functionality. From a design perspective, its only misses are its lack of button coverage—something we’d hope to see fixed in future Wave designs—as well as the headphone port hole and Dock Connector hole, which aren’t as accessory-friendly as they could be; these latter issues can be remedied, of course, by sliding off the case’s bottom.
With small tweaks, Wave could be our favorite iPod touch case; as-is, it’s still in our top 5 or so. We use it ourselves, and consider it to be highly recommendable.
