Review: Griffin Survivor Journey and Survivor Summit for iPhone 6/6s

Review: Griffin Survivor Journey and Survivor Summit for iPhone 6/6s

Griffin’s Survivor line has just expanded, with the company’s new protective cases coming to iPhone 6s. Survivor Journey ($30) is a co-molded TPE-and-plastic case. A rubber half-hex pattern — which Griffin calls its Impact Dispersion System — lines the inner sides of the case. Survivor Summit ($50) is a more rugged option, offering full protection with a slide-on screen guard, and port and speaker covers.

Summit comes with a belt clip/viewing stand, as well. Both cases come in multiple color patterns.

Journey is a great everyday case, offering proper, responsive button coverage and solid protection in a slim profile. Griffin claims the case can withstand 2-meter drops onto concrete.

Summit is said to withstand 3-meter drops on concrete. It’s IP55 water resistant, so the case is splashproof, rainproof, dustproof and sandproof.

Its full coverage includes protection for Touch ID, and the ringer switch — the case’s own switch works like a charm. Our only issue with the case is a somewhat noticeable gap between the slide-in screen protector and the iPhone’s screen. It will bother some users more than others.

Both of Griffin’s new Survivor cases are winners. Survivor Summit probably won’t be an everyday case for most people, and the air gap between the screen protector and iPhone screen can be bothersome.
