As one of several different types of Capdase screen protectors for the iPhone 3G, Mira ($13) is a single sheet of translucent mirrored film that covers the device’s entire glass face except for its ear speaker and home button. When the iPhone’s screen is off, the surface looks as reflective as a mirror, but when it’s on, you can see most of the screen’s detail shining through.
A cleaning cloth is included for initial application to the iPhone 3G’s face, but you’ll have to self-supply a plastic card to work the few air bubbles out. We found that we had to pop a stray piece of film off the speaker, as well, as it stayed attached during the application process, unlike the Home button.
Updated September 28, 2009: Capdase has released gold and red versions of Mira for both the iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G, each with a light tint that makes the film reflect back the color of your choice.
