Meridian Audio has introduced its iRIS Universal Dock for iPod, offering upscaled video output from the iPod. The iRIS features the Qdeo digital processing engine, which allows the Meridian iRIS to deliver HD-formatted, full-screen video — up to 1080p on HDMI, or 1080i or 720p via the analog component-video outputs — from standard, iPod-compatible video.
The iRIS also features standard-definition S-Video and composite video outputs, coaxial and optical digital audio, and headphone and line-level analog audio outputs, an HDMI input with source selection between the iPod and the HDMI source, a USB port for syncing, and an included remote. Meridian co-founder and Chairman Bob Stuart said, “With the Meridian iRIS, Meridian can offer astonishingly good big-screen playback on today’s HD displays, from an affordable device that features simple, ‘dock-and-hit-play’ usability.” The Meridian iRIS Universal Dock for iPod will be available in November for $379.
