iFixit has posted teardowns of the newly-released iPod classic and third-generation iPod nano. The teardowns do not list individual component suppliers, nor do they offer any estimates concerning component costs.
Interestingly, iFixit comments that the third-generation iPod nano makes liberal use of adhesive, including using it to hold the Click Wheel in place. The iPod classic doesn’t follow this trend, and instead uses screws to attach the logic board to the metal framework.
In addition, the iPod classic features a new metal plate backing the display, an addition that iFixit speculates may help support the display, making breakage less likely.
