Although Apple Music has been available on Android since 2015, in the same way that not all iOS apps are available to CarPlay, Apple Music has been limited to use directly on Android phones and tablets, not reaching the Android Auto dashboard. However, it looks like that’s about to change, according to a new report from Android Police, which reveals that a beta version 2.6.0 of Apple Music for Android will be adding Android Auto integration.
The beta is currently in private testing, although users can request access to the beta by applying to join a Google Group and then visiting the Play Store beta page to install the app. Once the beta has been installed, users should be able to select Apple Music as a playback source in Android Auto and control it in the same way as other music apps.
It also appears that version 2.6.0 will be caching up with other recent Apple Music features, including the ability to search music by lyrics and new Friends Mixes and Artist pages. [via Engadget]
