The embeddable web player for Apple Music has been updated to provide an option for subscribers to sign in and listen to full songs across the web, according to a report by 9to5Mac. Discovered by a user on Reddit, the widget, which has long been available to allow for artists and music fans to promote and embed albums and playlists on web sites, now includes a “Sign in” button in the top right corner and at the bottom of the track listing.
Once signed in, users will be able to listen to full songs rather than just 30–90 second previews, and once signed in, the user will be able to use their Apple Music account with the widget on any web site that they visit.
Apple Music users can also easily add the playlist to their library directly from the browser without needing to open iTunes, and if a user doesn’t want to remain signed in, they can click on the person icon in the top right corner to sign back out again. The move has led to speculation that Apple may in fact be planning to release a more full-featured web-based Apple Music player, especially with WWDC starting today, however although this already provides some of the infrastructure for web-based Apple Music playback, there are no signs of any other features such as a browsable library or For You screens that would suggest that this is coming.
