After encouraging some of its corporate employees in the U.S. to test Apple Pay Cash on iOS 11.1, Apple has expanded trial use of the person-to-person money transfer system to retail employees, MacRumors reports.
The feature is still absent from the iOS 11.1 developer betas, but Apple’s retail retail employees have been given access to both the beta and “an additional internal-only beta profile to unlock the Apple Pay Cash feature.” Employees said they also have to have their iCloud accounts whitelisted to access the feature and can only send money to those who have been similarly cleared.
Funds can be sent from linked credit or debit cards, and once received they are stored in an Apple Pay Cash card within Apple Wallet, from which funds can be spent through Apple Pay or transferred to a bank account. Transferring cash from a debit card is free, but using a credit card to send funds charges a 3 percent fee.
While most of the focus has been placed on sending money from an iPhone, money can be sent from the Apple Watch as well.
