Apple has significantly cut its orders for the CDMA iPhone 4, according to a new report. Citing upstream component makers, DigiTimes reports that Pegatron Technology, which recently announced a net quarterly loss of roughly $19.38 million, has already seen a reduction in orders from Apple.
It goes on to say that future shipment volumes may not be as strong as expected, as Pegatron was expected to ship 10 million CDMA iPhone 4s in 2011, but now that estimate has dropped to only five million units. Notably, Verizon Wireless CFO Fran Shammo recently hinted that the next iPhone would offer both CDMA and GSM connectivity in a single handset; it is unclear whether this device would be manufactured solely by Foxconn, Apple’s traditional iPhone assembler, or by Pegatron, or a combination of the two companies.
