In the followup to the popular side-scrolling snowboarding game Alto’s Adventure, Snowman is taking Alto and his friends to the desert in Alto’s Odyssey, available for pre-order now and set to be released on February 22. The new game preserves what we loved about the first, with simple, clean graphics and an uncluttered display putting the emphasis on the snowboarding mechanics and various tricks that can be accomplished.
The change of scenery leaves Alto’s snowy mountains in the background and has the character swapping his snowboard for a sandboard, conquering sandy dunes and using balloon-mounted cables in the same way a snowboarder uses a grind rail, but now as the balloons move up the jumps hit new heights and allow for more elaborate tricks.
Players can also ride on the walls with a single touch, providing another way to gain height, increase momentum and grab special items without changing the control scheme. The game trailer is out and Alto’s Odyssey can be pre-ordered now for $5.
