Everyone’s photos could benefit from a bit of retouching in Photoshop or a similar program, but most don’t have the time or the skill required to turn their quick snapshots into professional-looking images.
A few seconds later Photolemur reveals the end result of its toning, done automatically using artificial intelligence.
A bar down the middle can be dragged back and forth to view the before and after images, and the paint brush button at the bottom can be pressed to turn on a toggle to tone down the effects of the image manipulation a bit if the result is a bit too much. If users like the result, the file can be exported as a JPEG, TIFF, PNG or PDF. Photos can also be shared directly to Facebook or Twitter. The final images aren’t quite what you could achieve with Photoshop and the like, but we saw some serious improvement in photos where the sky was a main focal point and others taken in low light or in snow, which has a tendency to muddy an image and create a lack of detail. The program costs $29 for an individual license or $151 for use on up to five different machines, but Photolemur has a special going for the next week offering the five-license package and a few other goodies for $45.
