Nimbus Force One LED Floor Lamps

Nimbus Force One LED Floor Lamps

Apart from thinning to reflect the miniaturization of technologies inside, Apple’s Macs are timeless—their aluminum bodies complement or upgrade even modern offices. If you’re looking to accentuate your Mac’s near-future leanings, Nimbus Lighting’s Force One LED Floor Lamps ($2,200 and up) offer some luxurious options. Designed by Rupert Kopp for the German lighting company, Force One is made from aluminum in your choice of white powder-coated, anodized, or polished finishes, standing just over six feet tall and three feet deep.

Nimbus Force One LED Floor Lamps

Rather than a thin strip of lights, it packs tremendous power thanks to a box-shaped LED array, and comes in two versions: Force One and Force One Power. Each can provide enough light to brighten up your desk, optionally casting light upwards as well to illuminate a room.

The regular Force One model puts out 6,246 lumens of light in your choice of 2700K, 3000K, or 4000K whites—you pick one at the time of purchase, rather than adjusting the LEDs—while Force One Power offers 8,472 lumens.

Power also offers a different distribution of light: 28% of its output directed below, with 72% indirectly illuminating the rest of the room, versus Force One’s 39% direct and 61% indirect light output, which is better for smaller spaces. Each version has a presence detector and ambient light sensor for automatic adjustments. If you weren’t scared off by the entry price, you probably won’t mind that the Mac-matching anodized aluminum (and the highest-end polished versions) cost hundreds of dollars more than the base models.
