Apple has released another update to its iMac with Retina 5K Display ($1,799 – $2,299), following up on the iMac with Retina 5K Display (Mid-2015) released in the spring. The lineup once again sees a slight price drop, making the entry level model more affordable, while the 27” 5120 x 2880 “5K” Retina display features a wider P3-based color gamut, which promises to deliver a 25 percent larger color space.

The new models also pack in sixth-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors along with the latest AMD high-performance graphics, which should deliver up to 3.7 teraflops of computing power. Two Thunderbolt 2 ports and 802.11ac Wi-Fi are now standard, supporting wireless speeds up to 1.3Gbps.

The entry-level model is powered by a 3.2GHz Intel Core i5 processor, with 8GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive, and AMD Radeon R9 M380 graphics with 2GB of video memory, while the top-end model pushes that to a 3.3GHz i5, AMD Radeon R9 M395, and a 2TB Fusion Drive. The new models can of course also be customized, with built-to-order options including a 4.0 GHz Intel Core i7 CPU, up to 32GB RAM, and an AMD Radeon R9 M395X with 4GB video memory, as well as an assortment of Flash and Fusion Drive options.
