Speck, known for its cases, has introduced its first backpack — MightyPack ($80). The debut backpack for the company can hold up to a 15” MacBook, and there’s plenty of space for other accessories, including an iPad and iPhone. A vegan fur-lined “Tech Locker” pocket near the top of the bag has a hardshell for extra protection, and a hole inside the bag allows users to pass cables between compartments for charging purposes.

We received the black and dark blue version of MightyPack — there are also two-toned blue and pink versions of the bag. Speck has also introduced MightyPack Plus, which retails for $100 and opens to fold flat to meet TSA travel requirements.
With MightyPack, Speck claims it has “reimagined the basic backpack,” and though that may be a bit much, there are some thoughtful features in this bag. Speck has included more than enough pockets for whatever gear you’re likely to lug around, which is a good start.

These pockets include the aforementioned “Tech Locker” — great for folding headphones — and a small charging pocket on the bottom left side of the bag. Speck’s PR materials show a cable linked from a battery in that pocket to an iPhone in a user’s pocket. You may not want to tether yourself like that, but it’s still a useful feature.
