Speck CandyShell Fit for Apple Watch

Today we’ve gotten our first look at a wearable Apple Watch accessory — CandyShell Fit ($30) from Speck. CandyShell Fit is a protective cover for Apple Watch based on the designs of Speck’s much acclaimed iPhone cases — Fit features dual-layer polycarbonate and TPU construction, a raised bezel to protect the screen, and a design that allows it to be installed or removed with ease. We received both the 38mm and 42mm versions of the cover.

It comes in four colors that match Apple’s Sport bands.
We’re not sure how necessary such products will be for Apple Watch — the device doesn’t require the same level of protection as an iPhone, which can be dropped — but we have to say Speck did a pretty good job with CandyShell Fit. It just takes a second to pop the cover on or take it back off, and as Speck notes, the cover makes sense to wear while doing “rugged activities,” such as rock climbing. Though Apple Watch is pretty durable, Fit adds some extra protection, and peace of mind.

CandyShell Fit also adds very little bulk to the watch, and blends in pretty well. The Digital Crown is still easy to access while Fit is on the watch, as is the watch’s side button, which is now covered. Holes on the other side of Fit leave Apple Watch’s microphone and speaker exposed for use.
