While there’s still a lot of debate about the harmful effects of the radiation emanating from cell phone radios, there’s no doubt that the average iPhone emits at least some radiation and that the jury is still out on exactly what the long-term effects may be on the average person, not to mention the fact that some people may be much more sensitive to high-frequency RF signals. For those who don’t want to take any chances, the new Pong Radiation Reduction Cases may be worth a look.

These cases promise to reduce radiation exposure by up to 67% as compared to a bare iPhone while still meeting basic industry standards for drop protection.
The Pong cases are specifically engineered for each specific model of iPhone, and embedded with a patented, gold-plated antenna that maintains a strong signal while reducing the amount of radiation that is being directed toward your head, redirecting it outward and away from your body instead. The company cites both its own and independent tests that have verified its claims, reducing radiation exposure from an iPhone by up to 89% below the FCC Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) limit.

Pong cases also include certified drop protection of 4 – 6.6 feet; although the shell-style case design lacks button, top, or bottom coverage, it first very securely onto the iPhone, protecting the back and corners and providing full dock compatibility with very little extra bulk.

Pong is also currently available for the iPhone 7 ($40), however since the company engineers the antenna components specifically for each model of iPhone, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus Pong cases aren’t recommended for use with the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus; versions for those models, as well as the upcoming iPhone X, are coming soon.
