Henge Docks’ premium Gravitas ($69) is still one of the most solid iPhone and iPad docks out there. While it’s still basically the same dock we looked at three years ago, Henge Docks has kept its promise of continuing adapter support to ensure that newer iPhone and iPad models are always supported. These new adapters have also provided much better case support than the original model, and Gravitas is now listed at a more affordable price point.
Gravitas maintains its two-and-a-half-pound weight and dense metal alloy construction; it’s definitely a lot heavier than it looks, but in our opinion this is a good thing in an iPhone/iPad dock, as it’s not apt to move around your desk unless you want it to, and it nicely stays put when removing an iPhone or iPad, without having to hold the base.

While the base dock remains the same as before, the current version packs a set of case-compatible adapters for current iPhone and iPad models, eliminating one of the biggest detractions from Gravitas’ initial release. One adapter supports iPhone 6, 6s and 7 models, with a removable insert that can provide more room for an encased iPhone. The second adapter, designed for iPhone Plus and iPad models, includes rear support and the same insert that can be taken out to use with encased devices.

Henge Docks also sells an updated iPhone 5/5s/SE case-compatible insert separately. A standard USB-A and 3.5mm audio port on the back of Gravitas allow for computer/power and speaker connections; a USB-to-USB adapter cable is included in the box, as well.
