Beckmann of Norway has been making bags overseas for decades, and the company has recently brought their products here to the U.S. We’ve received Beckmann’s Urban 30L backpack ($120), a bag that contains three large pockets, two of which can easily house a MacBook and 12.9” iPad Pro. The lightweight pack features a number of leather details, including the zipper pulls.
A rain cover in the pocket can be pulled over the rest of the bag. Urban 30L also comes in burgundy, gray, and navy.
We like the simple, clean look of Urban 30L, which has a lot of features you’d expect in a backpack in this price range. A chest strap, a number of spacious pockets, and a padded back section designed to provide air flow are all present, as you might expect.
One of the pack’s most interesting features is a removable anatomically-shaped aluminum bar that’s designed to provide extra support and stability to your cargo, and maybe alleviate some pressure on the back, as well. The straps also have a bit more padding than most brands.
