Belkin

Belkin came to CES 2013 with what amounted to a small home to show off additions to its WeMo home automation lineup, along with an entire showroom of iPad and iPad mini cases, Lightning upgrades for existing accessories, and an intriguing case licensing deal.

Belkin’s WeMo lineup started with the Switch and Motion pieces (previously reviewed in July 2012), and later added some home automation modules. At CES 2013, Belkin showed off a NetCam HD Wi-Fi Camera ($149, available in spring 2013) that links into the WeMo SMART platform and can act as an additional motion sensor. Also shown were a WeMo light switch and baby monitor, with pricing and availability unknown at this time. Additionally, Belkin showed a wide range of Lightning upgrades for their cases, stands, desktop docks, and other accessories.

Belkin’s Ultimate Keyboard Case is made from a machined aluminum alloy. The case features three magnetic sensors that determine when the keyboard is in use, and when to release the iPad for on-screen typing. It has no power button, as it knows when it is in use, so it can last on standby and regular use “for at least a week, usually two.” A small case modification at the bottom redirects and can improve the sound.

The case will be available in April 2013 for $99 in black, or $129 for a aluminum silver case.
