Kingston Technology’s focus is on data accessories, especially USB flash drives. It’s exhibiting some impressively capacious models at CES, alongside a cool new wireless file sharing device aimed at iOS users.
Still in the beta stages, Wi-Drive MobileLite ($TBD) is comparable to the standard Wi-Drive, an accessory we covered last summer.
The difference is that the new model doesn’t come with any built-in storage; instead, it relies on self-provided USB drives.
MobileLite ($TBD) wirelessly shares data to your iPad or iPhone thanks to a free app. Additionally, it can read SD and Micro SD cards thanks to slots on the opposite side.
The company also showed off a huge capacity flash drive called DataTraveler HyperX Predator 3.0. Sporting USB 3.0, it’s currently shipping in a 512GB model ($1,750) with 1TB ($TBD) coming later in the first quarter of this year. When connected to the proper USB ports, these drives support read speeds of 240MB/s and write speeds of 160MB/s.
