Tips to Perfectly Position a Spy Camera

Tips to Perfectly Position a Spy Camera

A spy camera is meant to be hidden from plain sight and still capture the best possible footage in any given situation.

You can achieve a perfectly positioned camera spy device by following these simple tricks:

Tips to Perfectly Position a Spy Camera

Think About the Angle

Surveillance cameras are usually pointed in areas of interest, such as entrances, alleyways and possible escape routes. Once you have this established, it’s time to consider the angle. Too high and you won’t be able to capture anything but the top of their head. Too low and you won’t be able to identify anything other than the feet or shoe.

Consider the Camera’s Field of View

Every spy camera will have a degree of view- the greater or broader it is, the better. Positioning one that has a wide view will be easier than one with a narrow lens.

If possible, do a test of what the footage would look like by putting the spy camera temporarily and checking it then.

Ensure Adequate Lighting

Lighting is an oft-forgotten element in getting great videos and photos. When installing a spy cam it’s essential to get it right.

As a general rule you should put the camera facing away from natural light, e.g., windows, roofs and other elements. It’s best to keep this in mind once you’re doing a test to see if there are any obstructions or if more lighting is needed.

Do a Test Recording

Before you permanently install the camera you should do some practice filming. Test it in the environment and check for lighting issues, obstructions and field of view. Here, you can make fine adjustments to fix the angle and to hide the spy camera as much as you can without sacrificing video or image quality.

Once everything is okay then it’s time to permanently affix the camera to the wall, roof or table and get it rolling!
