Apple is close to releasing the latest iOS 12.2 to the public. At present, the iOS 12.2 beta 4 has been pushed to the developers and there are notable updates.


One of the most talked about update is to Apple News; the news app has received a new icon with a white background. Also, the service is to make its way to Canada with this specific build of iOS.

The other most crucial update people are looking forward to is Apple releasing its News subscription service. It has been reported that, the News app will be updated to include a monthly subscription format. The talk of the town has been that, the service will cost $9.99 per month which puts it along with Apple Music.


The latest public beta also includes new fun Animoji characters. However, only iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and iPad Pro users will be enjoy playing with Animojis. Also, a lot of bugs from the previous builds have been fixed.

Refreshed UI

Control Center tweaks

Some UI elements have also been refreshed in iOS 12.2 beta 4. The remote widget in the Control Center is now of the Apple TV Siri remote. The previous builds had different showed different designs; Apple is heavily tweaking it.


The insides of the remote widget have also been adjusted: the microphone button and the TV appear to have been swapped. The reason for the same is unknown; it may help in the long run. Also, the ten second forward and backward buttons that were removed, have now returned.

The iOS 12.2 public beta 4 weighs 390MB on the iPhone XS Max. It may/will differ on other devices.
